This program has transformed my life and perspective on the world, and I am excited that my final trip will be focusing on working with and learning about a population that is often neglected; yet the people are more American than any of us. I'm a Government & Politics major and I have never learned about the Native Americans in depth, but know they have such a rich culture and story; although history has been cruel to them. That is why I am eager to learn about this history through this amazing experiential learning opportunity. I have heard this is usually one of the most emotional AB trips the program has to offer, so we'll let you know why in a week!

So, although this is the first blog post, it will be the only one for the next week, as we will not have any computer/cell phone/technology access- which will be a nice change from the daily grind. We will try to blog daily from a labtop to document our experiences while they are fresh on everyone's mind, but won't be able to upload the posts until we return. The organization we're working with is Re-Member, dedicated to the Oglala Lakota people-- check them out at http://re-member.org/.

Here's to an amazing week with 27 people (oh yea, did I mention we're taking 2 teams to South Dakota this year?!), learning about and working with the amazing Lakota people, and coming back with amazing stories!

*Mitakuye Oyasin*
We are all related...

-Raakhee :)
Trip Leader (one of three!)
